you

Posted by Clarity on 20 Nov 2007 | Tagged as: Personal, Poetry

you smile at me seductively,
promising heaven and more,

but in truth - is it all just a play?

thinking of others

As our eyes meet
and I see the warmth and care you feel for me
may all beings enjoy it

and when we kiss
and our lips and tongues
mingle as wild snakes
or lazy snails
may all beings enjoy it

as I caress your body
and soul
with my gentle hands
and rough bites
may the bliss of your sighs
spread to all beings
and may their enjoyment never cease

and when we lie together
embraced
entwined
peacefully abiding
in each others arms
may this contentment
spread across the whole universe
and may all enjoy it

as much as we do.

for a student

I have an urge
to write a poem for you,

yet I don’t really know how,
how to express my appreciation,
my joy,
my sadness.

For you are such a gift,
such a treasure,
you bring me wonders
every day.

Your pain makes me cry,
cry so much for the suffering you inflict on yourself,
and your joy makes me smile
with the delight of the Great Eastern Sun.

Every day you remind me of my dignity
and my sloppiness (ouch!),
with humour and delight,
how precious that is!

A student and teacher,
these roles left behind long ago,
just two wonderful beings
traveling together
to a place of open heart and mind.

Some say a teacher should keep
a distance from his students,
yet how can that be
when I just love you?

shrapnel

Posted by Clarity on 30 Nov 2006 | Tagged as: Poetry

This heart of mine
bursts into thousand pieces
showering the world with shrapnels
of basic goodness.

reality

All these dramas of mine,
have as much substance,

as an owl’s fart
in the midnight’s sky

no ego

Posted by Clarity on 24 Nov 2006 | Tagged as: Poetry

There is no ego to destroy,
there never was and
never will be,

just smile
and kiss the world.

confidence

Posted by Clarity on 14 Nov 2006 | Tagged as: Poetry, Shambhala

There is no time to be cowards anymore,
no time to wallow in self-pity,
to moan and cry about how terrible we are,

don’t you hear the cries of this world?

Wake up to who you are,
rouse your head,
kill the ego with one blow
of your sword of confidence

Crack open its skull
and drink its blood and brains,
and smeared with blood

make love to the world.

rawness

My mother’s pain
or mine?

completely inseparable

pure rawness
of the heart.

black hole of pain

Posted by Clarity on 13 Mar 2006 | Tagged as: Poetry

pain comes suddenly,
envelops me completely,
body shaking with sobs.

Like a young child,
terrified, all I want to do
is curl into a small ball
and disappear.

I know you,
the black hole of pain,
the terrifying place in my soul
that I’ve been running away from my whole life.

I embrace the pain and the one experiencing it,
the little child and the adult,
allow for fear and terror
and for staying with fear and terror
for running away and staying with running away.

May my heart be wide enough
to embrace all the suffering people in this world.
(including me)

Every time we meet,
my heart breaks open, so raw,
yet so sad.

Will we ever be together in this life?

only breath

Not Christian or Jew or Muslim, not Hindu,
Buddhist, sufi or zen. Not any religion

or cultural system. I am not from the East
or the West, not out of the ocean or up

from the ground, not natural or ethereal, not
composed of elements at all. I do not exist,

am not an entity in this world or the next,
did not descend from Adam or Eve or any

origin story. My place is placeless, a trace
of the traceless. Neither body or soul.

I belong to the beloved, have seen the two
worlds as one and that one call to and know,

first, last, outer, inner, only that
breath breathing human being.
